What to Wear for Your Engagement Session

What to Wear for Your Engagement Session

Coordinate, don’t match. A simple guide to choosing outfits that feel like you and photograph beautifully against Colorado’s landscapes.

The number one question I get before a session is 'what do we wear?' My favorite advice: coordinate, don't match. Pick a palette of two or three complementary tones — think soft neutrals, earthy greens, warm rusts — and build your outfits from there. You'll look intentional without looking like a uniform.

Texture and movement photograph beautifully. A flowy dress that catches the breeze, a chunky knit, a little layering — these add depth and life to your images. Avoid large logos and tight, busy patterns, which tend to pull the eye away from your faces.

Most importantly, wear something you feel like yourself in. If you're tugging at a neckline or can't walk in your shoes, it shows. Comfortable and confident always photographs better than fussy and perfect — and I'm always happy to help you plan during our pre-session chat.
